How tryat works, what it does with your accounts, and how to get help or get out.

What tryat is

tryat reads the health and training data your watch and your training platform already collect, brings it together in one place, and gives you a daily reading of it from an AI coach that can see all of it at once. It is not a doctor and not a substitute for one. See the terms for what that means.

Connecting Strava

In tryat, go to Settings and choose Connect with Strava. You are sent to Strava’s own site to sign in and approve the connection. tryat never sees or stores your Strava password.

We ask for permission to read your activities, including those you have marked private, and your basic profile. We use that to read:

We never post to Strava, never change anything in your account, and never read anybody else’s data. The connection is read-only in practice as well as in intent.

Sessions read from Strava are shown only to you. If you follow other athletes in tryat, your Strava sessions are never part of what they see, because Strava allows their data to be displayed only to the athlete it came from.

Strava is connected but tryat shows nothing

Almost always this means the sessions are not in Strava. tryat can only read what Strava has. If your watch uploads to Garmin but you have never switched on Garmin’s automatic upload to Strava, your Strava account is empty and there is nothing for us to find. Check that a recent session is visible on strava.com, and if it is not, the fix is in Garmin’s settings rather than here.

Some numbers are missing

FTP and power zones are Strava subscriber features. On a free account Strava does not return them, so tryat leaves them blank rather than guessing. Relative Effort needs a heart rate reading, so sessions recorded without a strap fall back to an estimate from duration, and tryat marks them as estimated.

Fitness and form do not match Strava

They will not. Strava does not expose those figures through its API, so tryat calculates its own from your Relative Effort scores. They are consistent with each other, which is what makes a trend readable, but they are our numbers and not Strava’s.

Disconnecting Strava

In tryat: Settings, then disconnect. That removes the stored tokens immediately. You can also revoke tryat from Strava’s side at any time, under Settings and then My Apps on strava.com, and either way we stop being able to read anything.

Connecting Garmin and TrainingPeaks

Garmin and TrainingPeaks offer no equivalent way for an app to be granted access, so connecting those means entering your username and password. We encrypt both before they reach our database and use them only to sign in and read your own data. If you would rather not do that, connect Strava instead. It is the reason we prefer Strava where it is enough.

Following other athletes

You can follow other athletes and see their completed sessions, and they can follow you. New accounts start public, so your name is listed for other members and any of them can follow you with one tap.

A follower sees the sport, the name, the duration and the distance of your sessions, your first name, and nothing else. Never your sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, readiness, plan, goals or anything your coach wrote. Only sessions from the day you joined onwards, and never anything read from Strava.

To go private, open your profile and switch off Public profile. You disappear from the list and nobody new can follow you. Anybody already following you stays until you remove them, which you do under Following on the Team screen.

Your data

Open Settings and you can download everything we hold as a single file, withdraw consent for health data, or delete your account outright. All three are immediate and none of them require asking us. The detail is in the privacy policy.
